Jasprit Bumrah Age wife Jersey Number, Stats, And career

As India desperately sought a death overs’ bowler, in the Indian Premier League emerged Jasprit Bumrah, a blessing for the game in the country. Gujarat’s slight-built pacer polished his exact yorking process over time serving as Malinga’s apprentice as part of the Mumbai Indians franchise, and learnt very well to turn into a limited-overs giant in the Indian team.

His ability to bowl variations has become difficult to pick be it his slower deliveries or yorkers swinging the opposite way at the death due to his fast-arm action. He has kept his cool on every occasion and become the Mahi’s bowling partner as the last over specialist for India.

But Bumrah wasfirst given that critical cap in South Africa in January, 2 017, and he proved this with his ugly skiddy nippers and perplexing scrambled-seamers. The following season he would explode onto the Test scene to become the best overseas bowler by an Indian in a calendar year, his reputation burgeoning rapidly.

Jasprit Bumrah: A freakishly accurate fast bowler with a deadly yorker, a calm mind that thrives on the biggest stage, Jasprit Bumrah has already made a place in the top echelon of India’s greatest ever to play the game and is one of the best active all-format pace bowlers in the world.

Jasprit Bumrah Career

Domestic & IPL Base (2012-2015): Bumrah had his first footing in the game through the domestic circuit and the IPL. He made his debut for Gujarat in the 2012-13 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, leading his team to victory and was awarded player of the final. That weird activity of his turned the heads of the Mumbai Indians (MI) team management, and they signed him for the 2013 IPL season. After being taken under the wing by Lasith Malinga at MI, his death-overs ability came to the fore, and over 142 matches, he became MI’s all-time leading wicket-taker with 181 scalps and won five titles.

International debut and limited-overs success (2016 and 2017): The national call-up that was to be ever so predictable came in January 2016 when Bumrah was a last-minute injury replacement for Mohammad Shami for the tour of Australia. He was making his ODI and T20I debut on the tour. With his narrow line and length, and the ability to deliver a lethal yorker, he became an indispensable asset in limited-overs cricket, particularly at the death. In 2016, he bagged 28 wickets in T20I cricket, making him the leading wicket-taker in a calendar year. It was an economy of only 5 RPO in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy that earned him the title of best white-ball bowler in the world.

Bumrah Injury, Return, and Leadership (2021-Present)

He was ruled out of most of the 2021 and 2022 white-ball formats, missing two T20 World Cups, due to a stress fracture in his back. He however beamed in Tests, as the leading wicket-taker on the England tour in 2021. He was also handed the skipper role in the 5th Test against England in 2022 as well. He bounced back completely in time for the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he did phenomenally well for India who ultimately ended up losing the final.

Bumrah nailed his legendary status by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup Player of the Series, and playing a crucial role in the final as India broke their long-standing trophy drought. At the end of 2024, he finished as the highest wicket-taker in Tests for the year and won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy and the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year at the ICC Awards 2024. Later that year, he was captaining India again, this time to a memorable away win in the first Test against Australia in Perth.
